Sounds of Two Eyes Opening by Spot (first edition, 2014) is all killer and no filler. The book captures the raw heart of Southern California’s surf, skate, and punk culture from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Glenn “Spot” Lockett was more than a witness to the scene; he lived it. After arriving in Hermosa Beach, he became a key figure in its creative underground, co-founding Media Art Recording Studio and producing landmark records for SST artists including Black Flag, Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Hüsker Dü, and others.

Through his striking black-and-white photography, Spot documented the collision of beach life and the emerging punk movement, from sun-drenched streets to smoky clubs. Sounds of Two Eyes Opening is a powerful and authentic portrait of a time and place defined by energy, rebellion, and creativity.
