Wild Art is a visually rich collection of more than 300 unconventional artworks that exist outside the traditional gallery and museum setting. The book brings together a wide mix of creative work, including street art, customised cars, extreme body art, ice sculpture, performance events, and large-scale installations designed to be seen from above.
Rather than focusing on what is usually considered “fine art,” Wild Art highlights creativity in unexpected places. The works range from playful to confronting, but all of them question how art is defined and where it belongs. Drawing on their long-term research into alternative and underground art cultures, David Carrier and Joachim Pissarro present a curated overview that invites readers to rethink the boundaries of contemporary art.
