Rare first and only edition of a landmark Australian photobook of the 1970s. Published by the Young Women's Christian Association of Australia as the permanent record of its Woman exhibition for International Women's Year 1975, Woman 1975 is one of the defining Australian photobooks of its era. Conceived as both a historical record and a work of social commentary, it presents a powerful portrait of Australian womanhood during a decade of profound social change.

Drawing from more than 1,000 photographic submissions from across the country, editor Jennie Boddington, the pioneering first Curator of Photography at the National Gallery of Victoria, selected approximately 150 photographs exploring the diversity of women's lives across age, race and culture. Rather than offering an idealised view, the book documents the realities of work, family, identity, hardship and resilience, creating an enduring visual record of Australia in the mid-1970s.
