This small and rare catalogue for the first solo exhibition in Rome by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama before the opening of the Japanese Pavilion at the XLV Venice Biennale is a unique collector's item. In 1993, when she was “introduced” to the Roman public with the exhibition at the Galleria Valentina Moncada, Kusama already had considerable international fame and had already had numerous exhibitions in the United States and Europe behind her. The works exhibited at the Moncada gallery feature some of the Japanese artist's key motifs from those years.
